K-Pop Star Baek Ji-young Opens Up About Cosmetic Surgery Regrets and Lessons Learned

K-pop singer Baek Ji-young has candidly shared her experiences and regrets following cosmetic surgery.

On the 28th, Baek Ji-young's YouTube channel featured a video titled 'Why Baek Ji-young Regrets Her Surgery from 30 Years Ago? (Considering Revision Surgery)'.

In the video, Baek Ji-young offered heartfelt advice to a staff member planning a nose job. She stated, "Following trends in cosmetic surgery can lead to disaster. It traps you in a cycle of revision surgeries. It's crucial to find a procedure that suits your natural features and to choose the right surgeon and clinic."

Baek Ji-young emphasized, "Avoid clinics that recommend multiple surgeries at once. If something goes wrong, it's hard to pinpoint the cause." She confessed, "I have experienced failures over the years. I followed cosmetic trends and ended up with thicker double eyelids."

Discussing the 'cycle of revision surgeries', Baek Ji-young explained, "It's not about greed; it's about noticing flaws that others don't see. Once you've had a positive experience with surgery, you're tempted to do it again. It's a psychological thing."

Baek Ji-young revealed that her first cosmetic surgery was encouraged by her mother. "Around the time I graduated high school and entered a broadcasting-related major, my mom suggested I get my eyes, nose, and mouth done. I even placed third in a beauty pageant after the surgery," she shared.

Reflecting on her past, she admitted, "If I could go back, I wouldn't have had the first surgery. Trends in facial aesthetics come full circle. Nowadays, features like my old face—without double eyelids, a smaller nose, and a rounder face—are in vogue. So, I wouldn't do it again."

Baek Ji-young and her husband, Jung Suk-won, consulted with a plastic surgeon. Baek Ji-young expressed concerns about her nose, saying, "My nose was originally long, but its shape changed over time, affecting the nostrils." The surgeon recommended revision surgery, noting, "The ideal length from the bridge to the tip is about 47mm. Even a 3mm reduction can make it look significantly shorter."

Jung Suk-won humorously offered, "Can my cartilage be used for her surgery? I'd give it all," but the surgeon replied, "That's never been done," bringing laughter. Regarding Jung Suk-won's face, the surgeon suggested subtle procedures like a forehead lift as he ages.

During the consultation, Baek Ji-young, who desires natural-looking results, expressed her eagerness for surgery, saying, "I just want to lie down and get it done." She advised, "Don't obsess over the mirror post-surgery. It makes you want more. If everything goes well, focus on skincare next. Satisfaction has no end, so learn to be content at some point."

Meanwhile, Baek Ji-young clarified her previous statement about spending around 1 billion KRW (approximately $750,000) on cosmetic surgery, saying, "It's not that much." She also mentioned her daughter, Ha-im, who enjoys using double eyelid tape, and said, "I'm in favor of my daughter having surgery, but Jung Suk-won opposes it. We need his permission."
