Actress and Comedian Kim Hyun-sook Unveils Her Remodeled Jeju Home
On the 23rd, the YouTube channel 'Kim Hyun-sook's Mukgo Live' featured a video titled 'Back After 5 Years! A Virtual Housewarming in Jeju! "I Carefully Selected Every Material for the Remodeling."'
In the video, Kim Hyun-sook showcased her Jeju home, explaining the remodeling process with materials she personally selected.
Kim emphasized, “In Seoul, I live in a rented place, but this is my real home.” The house in Jeju is her own property, where she lived with her son Hamin for about three years. She shared, “Due to certain circumstances, I had to renovate it last year,” expressing her affection by calling it her “real home” and a “second house.”
The most significant change post-remodeling is the warm beige tones and natural materials that give the house a cozy feel. Responding to comments that it looks “much more comfortable, unlike Kim Hyun-sook,” she nodded with a smile. She described life in Jeju as slower and more relaxed compared to Seoul.
The standout feature of the two-story house is the large windows. Hyun-sook mentioned, “Windows are the most expensive part of a house,” and explained that she didn’t replace them as it would be akin to building a new house. The abundance of windows was a key reason for choosing the house initially. She transformed the home she once shared with her young son into a versatile space for family and guests to relax.
Lying in her independently structured bedroom, Kim remarked, “The smell of carbonized wood is strong,” and humorously added, “At night, I hear cats, crows flying, and even distant mastiff sounds, but people are scarier than ghosts.”
Kim expressed the tranquility of Jeju life, saying, “When I come here, all the swelling goes down, and I just feel happy.”
Meanwhile, comedian Kim Hyun-sook married a non-celebrity businessman of the same age in 2014, but they divorced in 2020 due to personality differences and her ex-husband's financial situation. She is now raising her son, Yoon Hamin, on her own.
