Singer Sunghyunwoo Reveals Near-Death Experience in Jeju Island
Singer Sunghyunwoo recently shared a harrowing experience from a past trip to Jeju Island where he faced a life-threatening situation.

On October 21, Sunghyunwoo posted a video titled 'Almost Got Killed in Jeju Island, 100% True Story' on his YouTube channel 'WOO (Sunghyunwoo)'.

In the video, Sunghyunwoo recounted, "This is a 100% true story where I almost got killed in Jeju Island. I never shared this on TV or radio because I was scared the person might find me. But now, enough time has passed, and I want to share this story."

Sunghyunwoo explained that in 2021, after his unexpected departure from the group Limitless, where he performed under the stage name A.M, he decided to pursue a solo career. Seeking inspiration for his music, he traveled alone to Jeju Island.

He recalled, "There weren't many restaurants near the guesthouse, so I sat a seat away from a man eating noodles alone. The man, drunk, was hurling insults at a foreign part-time worker."

Sunghyunwoo described how he intervened, saying, "I told the man, 'It's too noisy while I'm eating. I'm a customer too, can I eat in peace?'" Despite the confrontation, he continued his meal, and the restaurant owner eventually escorted the drunk man outside.

After finishing his meal, Sunghyunwoo was shocked when the man, from across the two-lane road, called out to him while hiding behind a car. The intoxicated man then brandished a sashimi knife wrapped in a bandage, asking if Sunghyunwoo was good at fighting.

Sunghyunwoo recounted the terrifying moment, "I ran like crazy, but I couldn't see anything. When I looked back, the man was chasing me." He added, "I didn't have time to call the police. I hid behind a stone wall until the man disappeared from view, then quietly returned to the guesthouse to report the incident."

The police arrived and arrested the man in a nearby alley. Sunghyunwoo later received notification that the man was sentenced to prison for special threats. He advised, "Avoid confrontations with drunk people whenever possible."

Born in 1996, Sunghyunwoo gained attention in 2017 when he participated in Mnet's survival show 'Produce 101' Season 2, where he was eliminated in 61st place. He was later revealed to be a victim of the show's ranking manipulation. Sunghyunwoo now runs his own YouTube channel as a content creator.
