K-Pop Star Song Ga-in Shares Struggles of Small Business Ownership in Heartfelt YouTube Video
On November 2, Song Ga-in's YouTube channel featured a video titled '[With Ga-in and Dad] Song Ga-in! Finally Found Her Second Job. Self-employed Song Ga-in Becomes a Green Onion Shop Owner with Her Father's Homegrown Green Onions.'
In the video, Song Ga-in is seen in Jindo with her father, harvesting green onions. Upon spotting a cat named 'Jonabi' in the yard, she humorously remarked, "Is she pregnant again? This is driving me crazy," bringing laughter with her light-hearted comment.
Song Ga-in proudly showcased the large green onions, different from those in Seoul, stating, "These onions grow differently because they endure the winter and are exposed to sea breezes." When the production team expressed concern about theft, her father assured them, "If caught, it would be a big problem," indicating there was no need to worry.
Observing the already harvested field, Song Ga-in joked, "Dad, you must have made some pocket money. You didn't tell Mom, did you?" She reminisced, "When I was young, my parents advised against farming in fields because it's tough work."
After just 10 minutes, Song Ga-in expressed her anxiety, saying, "Running a small business is tough. I know from selling hairpins. When orders don't come in, it feels bad. It's depressing for small business owners." Eventually, she ended up giving away free radishes to the locals, lamenting, "The business failed. I guess I'm not lucky with business."
Despite the challenges, Song Ga-in shared, "I sold about 20,000 won worth today. The fish-shaped bread I ate before picking the onions cost 25,000 won," but she added with a smile, "Even though the business didn't go well, I had a great time picking green onions with my dad and it was a joyful day."
