Former Roo'ra Member Go Young-wook Struggles with Social Reintegration
Recently, Go took to his social media to share, "I've spent exactly 13 years, 8 months, and 21 days as an unemployed person."
He questioned, "Is there no place in this society that will hire me, no way to earn money for my beloved dogs' food?" Go also shared a performance video of One More Chance's 'Free Man.'
Go added, "Rehabilitation is supposed to help with reintegration into society, but in a world that unconditionally shuns people like me, what can I do to live?"
Additionally, he posted a screenshot of cultural critic Kim Sung-soo's statement from a broadcast, where Kim said, "Shouldn't we give people a chance to return to society?"
Go Young-wook debuted with the group Roo'ra in 1994. He was charged with sexually assaulting and molesting three minors on four occasions between July 2010 and December 2012 in his Seoul apartment and car. In December 2013, the Supreme Court sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months in prison, along with a 5-year disclosure of personal information and a 3-year electronic monitoring device (ankle bracelet) order.
Go was released from Seoul Southern Detention Center in July 2015. After his release, he attempted to connect with the public through YouTube channels, but faced severe criticism, leading to the closure of all his channels due to his criminal record.
