Studio Ghibli's 'Spirited Away' Comes to Life as a Musical in South Korea
The legendary Studio Ghibli film 'Spirited Away' is set to captivate South Korean audiences as a musical. The production boasts an impressive lineup with original cast members making a special appearance.

On the morning of the 7th, a media call for the musical 'Spirited Away' was held at the CJ Lounge of the Seoul Arts Center. The event was attended by director John Caird, co-adaptor Maoko Imai, and cast members such as Mone Kamishiraishi and Rina Kawaei, who play Chihiro, as well as Mari Natsuki, who portrays Yubaba and Zeniba. They shared various insights about the production.

The musical 'Spirited Away' is based on the iconic film by animation master Hayao Miyazaki. It tells the story of Chihiro, who accidentally enters a forbidden world of gods and embarks on an extraordinary mission and fantastical adventure.

When asked about their portrayal of Chihiro, Rina Kawaei, speaking on behalf of the two actresses playing the role, said, "Chihiro is the character closest to the audience in this extraordinary world. Even though we perform every day, I approach the stage with a mindset to never lose freshness, and I want to show Chihiro's growth as the story progresses."

The enchanting journey of 'Spirited Away' will be exclusively performed in South Korea until March 22, 2026, offering audiences a unique theatrical experience.
