Actor Shin Sung-rok has added another line to his filmography with his latest role in the musical 'Man in Hanbok'. In this debut production, he takes on the challenge of playing dual roles, earning praise from netizens as a "seasoned actor who masterfully controls expressions and emotions."

Shin is currently starring in 'Man in Hanbok', which premiered on the 2nd of this month. The musical is based on the novel of the same name by author Lee Sang-hoon and combines history with imagination to explore the mysterious final days of Jang Yeong-sil, a figure from Joseon history.

Produced by EMK Entertainment, 'Man in Hanbok' marks its first-ever performance this year, adding a new entry to Shin's filmography. Notably, this is his first historical musical since 'Hero' in 2010, following his role as Emperor Lee Hyuk in the 2018 drama 'The Last Empress'.

During a press call on the 9th, Shin expressed his reasons for joining 'Man in Hanbok', stating, "Playing King Sejong in a historical musical is particularly rare," and described it as a "meaningful project." He portrays both King Sejong and Jin-seok, showcasing his versatility in both image and performance.

Ahead of the show's opening, EMK Entertainment's YouTube channel released a video of Shin performing a number from the musical. His portrayal, characterized by expressive eyes, received acclaim from viewers who commented on his ability to convey the character's psychology through subtle changes in expression.

Now in his 22nd year as an actor, Shin Sung-rok is considered a veteran in the industry. As numerous musicals like 'Beetlejuice', 'Fan Letter', 'Sugar', and 'Moulin Rouge' hit the stage this month, 'Man in Hanbok' joins the competitive lineup. Shin's seasoned experience and fresh approach are anticipated to contribute to the musical scene's success at the year's end.
