DAY6's Young K Discusses Copyright Royalties and His Journey in Music
On November 1st, Young K and Dowoon appeared on the YouTube channel 'Jjanhyung Shin Dong-yup'.
During the show, Young K reminisced about a past interview with Jackson and Mark where he exaggerated the pronunciation of "Toronto." He said, "I only lived there for four years. I did exaggerate my pronunciation a lot back then. It was a joke, but only that part was edited, making me seem arrogant."
Since then, Young K has been cautious about his words and actions. Dowoon added, "He used to be very careful in the past and didn't like meeting people, but he changed after becoming a radio DJ. I like him better now."
On the other hand, Young K's role model was GD (G-Dragon). Inspired by GD, Young K returned to Korea to become a trainee. He shared, "I realized GD and I are very different. I couldn't achieve it just by trying. I thought 'being a singer isn't the path I want,' and I considered quitting as a trainee several times, but my father dissuaded me."
In response to Shin Dong-yup's praise, "Writing lyrics is an enviable talent," Young K explained, "It was a survival method. I couldn't debut without being a lyricist. JYP set the rule that 'you must have your own color to debut.'"
