Beloved Author Baek Se-hee Passes Away at 35, Saves Five Lives Through Organ Donation
Baek Se-hee, the acclaimed author of the bestseller 'I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki,' has passed away at the age of 35. While the exact cause of death has not been disclosed, it is known that Baek was in a brain-dead state and saved five lives through organ donation.

On the 17th, the Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency announced, "Author Baek Se-hee donated her heart, lungs, liver, and both kidneys, saving a total of five lives. We deeply appreciate her warm generosity."

Baek Se-hee gained widespread admiration for her candid portrayal of her battle with depression in 'I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki.' The book resonated with many who shared similar struggles, offering empathy and solace. She continued to engage with her readers through works like 'I Don't Think Anyone Loved You as Much as I Did' and 'I Want to Write, I Don't Want to Write,' as well as through talk concerts and lectures.

Born as the second of three sisters in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, Baek had a passion for reading and writing from a young age, leading her to major in creative writing. After graduating, she worked in publishing for about five years. Seeking to overcome personal challenges, she received psychiatric treatment and was diagnosed with dysthymia. Her experiences during this time inspired her to publish her first book and embark on her writing career.

Baek was known for her warm personality, always attentive to those around her and reaching out to those in need. She deeply understood those with emotional scars and extended the comfort she received through her writing and actions, spreading positive influence.

Baek's sister, Baek Da-hee, tearfully remembered her, saying, "My sister, who loved writing and hoped to share her heart and nurture hope through her words. Knowing her kind heart that loved much and couldn't hate anyone, I hope she rests peacefully in heaven. I love you so much."

Lee Sam-yeol, Director of the Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency, stated, "Baek Se-hee offered comfort and hope to many through her warm writing. Her courage and love, demonstrated through her final act of life-sharing, have become a new beginning for others. I believe her meaningful contribution will continue to illuminate our society with health and brightness."
