Korean Entertainer Hong Seok-cheon Warns Fans Against Impersonation Scam

On October 12, Hong took to his social media to express his concerns, stating, "There are so many scammers these days." He revealed that a man in his 30s, who claimed to be a fan, had requested Hong to visit his workplace just once. Hong obliged and took photos and videos, but later received multiple reports that this individual had been scamming women out of thousands of dollars. The man allegedly manipulated messaging apps to falsely portray a close relationship with Hong, even claiming that Hong would help resolve financial issues.

The entertainment industry has recently seen a rise in scams where individuals falsely claim connections with celebrities or impersonate them or their agency staff to gain financial benefits. In response, agencies have been releasing official statements and promising strict measures against such fraudulent activities.
