Comedian Park Na-rae's Home Burglar Sentenced to Prison

On the 3rd, the Seoul Western District Court's Criminal Division 1 (Chief Judge Park Ji-won) sentenced Jung Mo (37) to two years in prison for theft and nighttime residential intrusion.
Jung was accused of breaking into Park Na-rae's residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on April 4th and stealing valuables worth tens of millions of won before fleeing.
Jung claimed that he did not know the house belonged to Park Na-rae at the time of the crime.
The court stated, "The defendant admitted to the charges and expressed his intention to surrender to the Seoul Yongsan Police Station, and the stolen goods were returned to the victim." However, the court also considered "the defendant's previous similar offenses, the fact that the crime was committed during a probation period, the high value of the stolen items, and the victim's request for severe punishment" in determining the sentence.
Two individuals, identified as A and B, who received the stolen goods from Jung and were charged with acquiring stolen property, were fined 2 million won and 3 million won, respectively.
It was also revealed that Jung committed another theft in a different house in Yongsan-gu at the end of March. The police, while tracking Jung through CCTV footage, confirmed that he was the same person who stole from Park Na-rae's home.
The police have combined Jung's previous crimes with this case and forwarded it to the prosecution.
Park Na-rae purchased her standalone house in Itaewon in 2021 for approximately 5.5 billion won. The interior and exterior of the house have been featured multiple times on the MBC variety show 'I Live Alone,' where she is a regular cast member.
