Korean-Canadian Singer JK Kim Dong-wook Faces Legal Action for Alleged Defamation Against South Korean Government

On the 10th, Shin Seung-mok, head of the National Participation Solidarity for Clearing Deep-rooted Evils, announced plans to file a complaint against JK Kim Dong-wook. Shin stated, "We will hold him accountable for defamation and malicious slander through the dissemination of false information," indicating a firm stance.
JK Kim Dong-wook has consistently made far-right political statements against the current administration. Following the inauguration of President Lee Jae-myung, he posted, "It seems there will be more time to sing about the world we shouldn't experience than love songs."
Recently, when the presidential office announced that President Lee would attend the G7 Summit in Canada from the 15th to the 17th, JK Kim Dong-wook disputed the claim, saying, "These leftist scum, did you all attend the same DM (direct message) school?" and "Check if you were invited before contacting us."
In response, Shin stated, "Distorting facts and spreading false information as if the presidential office is lying is a clear violation of the Information and Communications Network Act," emphasizing the need for legal accountability due to the mental distress caused to the public. He added, "We will respond equally before the law, regardless of status. We have no intention of overlooking this because of his name."
JK Kim Dong-wook, a Korean-Canadian singer, holds Canadian citizenship, exempting him from military service and voting rights in South Korea.
Previously, in January, he was also accused of violating the Immigration Control Act.
