Baeksang Arts Awards 2025: 'Culinary Class Wars' Takes Top Honors, IU and Park Bo-gum Miss Out

The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards, held on May 5th at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, celebrated the best in Korean film and television. Hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Park Bo-gum, and Suzy, the event was broadcast live on JTBC channels and streamed digitally on platforms like Prism and Naver TV.

The grand prize in the television category went to 'Black and White Chef.' Director Kim Hak-min expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thanks to Baek Jong-won, Chef Ahn Sung-jae, and all the participants for anchoring the program. I first attended Baeksang 10 years ago, and now receiving the grand prize as a PD feels surreal." In the film category, cinematographer Hong Kyung-pyo won for 'Harbin,' though he was absent due to scheduling conflicts.

The Prism Popularity Award was claimed by Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon for 'Run with Seon-jae.' Byun received 2,403,031 votes, while Kim garnered 7,873,877 votes. Byun expressed his gratitude to fans for their support, promising to continue being an actor who provides comfort. Kim Hye-yoon also thanked her fans, vowing to work hard to match the love she received.

In the Best Actor categories, Jo Jung-suk and Jeon Do-yeon took home the awards for film, while Kim Tae-ri and Joo Ji-hoon won for television. Despite being nominated in eight categories, IU and Park Bo-gum did not win any awards. Kim Tae-ri shared her thoughts, "I tried not to compromise. It wasn't the absolute right answer, but it was my romantic notion. I want to continue striving to be an actor who isn't ashamed of ambition."

The Best Supporting Actor awards went to Yoo Jae-myung and Soo-hyun, with Choi Dae-hoon and Yeom Hye-ran from 'You Have Been Fooled' also winning. Yeom, who won for the second consecutive year, tearfully accepted her award, while Choi entertained the audience with a memorable line from his role.

The Newcomer Awards were given to Chae Won-bin, Choo Young-woo, Noh Yoon-seo, and Jung Sung-il. Jung, who won at the age of 45, remarked, "It feels like receiving a gift as an adult on Children's Day." Choo expressed his wish for his ailing mother to smile upon seeing his achievement, and Noh captivated the audience with her sign language greeting.

The Variety Show Awards went to Lee Soo-ji and Shin Dong-yup. Shin, surprised by his win, said, "My mind went blank as if I received a rookie award. I hope to be a guiding light for juniors lost at sea." Lee expressed her gratitude, acknowledging the viewers who give her the strength to keep making people laugh.
