Kim Soo-hyun Takes Legal Action Against Malicious Online Posts
On the 15th, Gold Medalist stated, "Recently, malicious posts, comments, and false information targeting our artist Kim Soo-hyun have been indiscriminately posted and spread online. Particularly, speculative posts and unverified claims are being persistently and repeatedly posted, leading the public to have a wrong perception and damaging the artist's reputation."
They continued, "Malicious slander, spreading false information, personal attacks, and sexual harassment rampant on online communities and social media should not be taken lightly as they are criminal acts. Based on active reports from fans and our own monitoring, we filed a complaint on the 14th with law enforcement for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and insult under the Criminal Act."
Furthermore, they warned, "The behavior of 'cyber wreckers' who exploit anonymity to create fake news and cause cyberbullying through videos and shorts is severe. As the identities of these cyber wreckers are being revealed and legal actions are being taken, we will also respond strongly in collaboration with overseas legal representatives against overseas platforms like YouTube and X (formerly Twitter)."
Finally, they stated, "We plan to continue filing additional complaints against malicious posts that defame the artist's reputation, and we will do our utmost to protect the artist's rights with strong legal measures against clear criminal acts."
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun and the family of Kim Sae-ron have begun legal proceedings over rumors of an underage relationship. According to the legal community on the 2nd, the Seoul Central District Court assigned the civil lawsuit filed by Kim Soo-hyun against the family of Kim Sae-ron, YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (Gaseyeon) operator Kim Se-eui, and an unidentified person claiming to be Kim Sae-ron's aunt to the 14th Civil Division. The lawsuit amount filed with the court was initially reported as 11 billion KRW but has been confirmed to be 12 billion KRW.
Previously, the family of Kim Sae-ron claimed through Gaseyeon from the 10th of last month that "Kim Sae-ron dated Kim Soo-hyun for about six years from 2015 to 2021 when she was a minor," presenting messages and photos as evidence. In response, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference on the 31st of last month, denying these claims entirely.
