Late Singer Wheesung's Brother Offers Comfort to Fans and Colleagues at Funeral

On the morning of the 16th, a funeral and memorial service for Wheesung was held at Seoul Samsung Hospital in Gangnam, Seoul. Following the service, Wheesung's brother, Choi Hyuk-sung, spoke about the difficulties his brother faced during his lifetime, offering solace to fans and colleagues.
Choi reflected on Wheesung's reserved nature at home, noting that while he was not openly affectionate, he often expressed warmth through text messages. Colleagues in the entertainment industry also described him as 'a truly warm and caring person.'
However, Choi revealed that Wheesung struggled with significant mental challenges and loneliness. He said, "My brother was a very caring and warm person, but he always felt lonely and struggled. Our family wanted to understand why. We tried very hard and really wanted to help," adding, "There were aspects that couldn't be resolved through anyone's efforts. It's not something we can blame on him, our family, or the fans. We must acknowledge that there are things beyond our control."
He continued, "The psychiatrist who treated my brother came to pay respects and said, 'I'm sorry it turned out this way.' A lot of effort was made, but there are aspects of illness that are beyond human control," he said. "If everything could be solved through effort, it wouldn't be human life. So, I hope you don't blame yourselves too much."
Choi concluded, "While my brother's physical presence has stopped, his music and songs will remain. Even when we grow older than he was in his portrait, his music will continue to exist," he said. "You can listen to his songs anytime. I will make sure my brother lives longer than any of us, so please don't be too sad."
