SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) has added another achievement with their fourth Japanese single.
According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan on the 10th, SEVENTEEN's fourth single 'Shohikigen' has surpassed 500,000 units in cumulative shipments as of November, earning a 'Double Platinum' certification. The association awards Gold Disc certifications based on cumulative shipments: Gold (100,000 units), Platinum (250,000 units), and Double Platinum (500,000 units).
This marks SEVENTEEN's 18th Gold Disc certified album. Notably, they have received four certifications this year alone, including the best album '17 IS RIGHT HERE' (Double Platinum), special unit JeonghanXWonwoo's first single 'THIS MAN' (Gold), and mini 12th album 'SPILL THE FEELS' (Platinum), highlighting their strong presence in Japan.
'Shohikigen' debuted at number one on Japan's Oricon 'Daily Album Ranking' immediately after its release on the 27th of last month, maintaining the top spot for nine consecutive days. It also topped the Oricon 'Weekly Single Ranking' (as of December 9, covering November 25 to December 1), 'Weekly Combined Single Ranking', and Billboard Japan's 'Top Single Sales' (as of December 4, covering November 25 to December 1).
SEVENTEEN is currently continuing their sold-out dome tour in Japan. Following performances at Vantelin Dome Nagoya at the end of last month, their shows at Tokyo Dome on the 4th and 5th received rave reviews from local media, with Tokyo Chunichi Sports stating, "The venue was filled with energy," and Nikkan Sports commenting, "Their overwhelming popularity was proven." Upcoming performances are scheduled at Kyocera Dome Osaka (12th, 14th-15th) and Fukuoka PayPay Dome (19th, 21st-22nd).
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN's mini 12th album 'SPILL THE FEELS' was recently included in Billboard's 'The 25 Best K-Pop Albums of 2024: Staff Picks'. Billboard praised their wide musical spectrum, noting, "From the captivating disco ('Rain') to the addictive Miami bass ('Eyes on you'), 'SPILL THE FEELS' continues to showcase SEVENTEEN's endless ambitions."
