KBS Drama 'Dog Talk' Reaches New Heights with Thrilling Plot and Stellar Performances

In the sixth episode of KBS 2TV's Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Dog Talk,' aired last night (10th) at 9:50 PM, Lee Soon-jae, who can understand 'dog talk,' displayed an even more fantastic chemistry with Sophie, thrilling viewers as they brilliantly solved the case. The episode achieved its highest viewership rating of 4.6% nationwide, with the revelation of the Yang Won-hee murder case peaking at 6.1% in real-time ratings, according to Nielsen Korea.
Previously, Yang Won-hee (played by Hwang Jung-min), a haenyeo from Geoje Island, staged a fake suicide with her adopted daughter Hong Ji-soo (played by Jung Bo-min) to prevent her biological children from inheriting her wealth. However, Yang Won-hee, who pretended to jump into the sea and hid from the public eye, was found murdered in her hideout. Song Ok-sook, who happened to pass by, became the first witness, adding a layer of intrigue to the situation.
In last night's episode, Lee Soon-jae and Sophie's dynamic efforts to piece together the puzzle of the case using various clues and testimonies were showcased. With Hong Ji-soo under police suspicion, Lee Soon-jae, recalling the affectionate relationship between the mother and daughter, was convinced that the real culprit was someone else and began his investigation. The scene where Sophie recruited a dog that could understand cat language to translate the eyewitness account from the day of the incident brought smiles to viewers, adding a touch of humor amidst the tense atmosphere.
Lee Soon-jae learned a crucial clue that the fleeing suspect from the crime scene was a woman with a cat allergy, but he was frustrated as he couldn't relay this information to the police. Amidst the ongoing investigation, the sudden occurrence of the 'Sophie Kidnapping Case' shocked everyone. Sophie lost consciousness after receiving a treat from a passerby and woke up trapped in a stranger's house. It turned out to be the home of the 'Sibling Scam Duo,' Yoon Ha-neul (played by Baek Jin-wook) and Yoon No-ran (played by Lee Ah-in), who kidnapped pets and extorted rewards from their original owners. Sophie managed to escape and immediately informed Lee Soon-jae, leading to the duo's arrest on the spot.
The revelation of the sinister connection between the sibling scam duo and the murder of haenyeo Yang Won-hee unfolded a surprising twist. With Lee Soon-jae's help, police officer Hong Cho-won (played by Yeon Woo) was credited for capturing the scam duo and hinted that the kidnapper was a pet groomer. Song Ok-sook, who suffered from severe cat allergies and had visited a veterinary clinic, recalled an incident where her belongings got mixed up with the groomer's items. Noticing her swapped medicine bag, she remarked, "The groomer must have had a cat allergy," providing a crucial hint.
Connecting the keywords 'pet groomer' and 'cat allergy,' Lee Soon-jae deduced the true identity of the culprit and even the motive behind the crime. Rumors spread in the neighborhood that haenyeo Yang Won-hee intended to leave her vast inheritance to her pet cat Mongdol instead of her biological children. Yoon No-ran, a reward hunter, approached Mongdol, leading to a struggle that resulted in Yang Won-hee's death.
However, without concrete evidence, it was impossible to conclusively identify the perpetrator. With Sophie's help, Hong Cho-won successfully found Yoon No-ran's earring at the crime scene. Yoon No-ran, who was under investigation for fraud, confessed to the murder, unraveling the tangled truth of the case. The scene where the exonerated adopted daughter Hong Ji-soo wept bitterly over the loss of her mother moved viewers to tears, and the revelation that Yang Won-hee's biological children, who had committed acts of filial impiety, would inherit none of the wealth brought catharsis.
Amidst the tension-filled storyline, various episodes and the appearance of familiar faces added entertainment. Actor Son Byung-ho made a special appearance as Park Geun-soo, a former colleague of the senior five, humorously passing the bill to Kim Yong-gun after flaunting his success as a businessman. Actor Woo Hyun, playing ophthalmologist Lee Young-soo, created a charming love line with Ye Soo-jung, only to be humorously rejected by her after her cataract surgery improved her vision.
