Translator Hwang Seok-hee Faces Allegations of Multiple Sexual Offenses
On the 30th, a media outlet reported that Hwang had committed sexual offenses on three occasions. According to the report, he was charged twice: once in 2005 for molesting and assaulting women on the street, and again in 2014 for sexual violence against a student. Although charges such as indecent assault causing injury and quasi-rape were applied, he reportedly received suspended sentences.
In response, Hwang stated on his social media, "I am currently reviewing the related matters with my lawyer. If there are inaccuracies, unverified content, or expressions beyond legal judgment in the report, I will consider corrections and responses."
As the controversy grew, Hwang amended his post to "Leave a comment, 'Noona, I'm dying ㅠ' or 'Unnie, I'm dying ㅠ' or any words welcome." He later countered critics by using terms like 'PC zealots,' arguing against excessive moral demands.
Born in 1979, Hwang Seok-hee is a famous translator who has worked on over 600 films, including 'Warm Bodies,' 'Carol,' 'Deadpool,' 'Spotlight,' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody.' He married in 2012 and has a daughter.
