BLACKPINK member Jennie has spoken out regarding the controversy surrounding her indoor vaping, sparking renewed debate among fans.

In an interview published on the 19th (local time) by Harper's Bazaar US, Jennie addressed the incident where she was criticized for vaping indoors in Italy last July. The magazine noted, "Privacy is a luxury for BLACKPINK, and the members' voluntary actions can become controversial," referencing the incident.

Jennie responded, "What should I do? If Koreans think it's wrong, I need to correct it," adding, "I understand why (the Korean public) is upset. It's a cultural and historical issue, and I can't go against that." Harper's Bazaar highlighted Jennie's efforts to understand her fans and the public.

Some fans, however, criticized her response, saying, "The controversy wasn't about Korean culture or history; it was a matter of human decency," and "Jennie still seems to miss the point of the controversy," pointing out that the main issue was her blowing smoke in the face of her makeup artist.

On the other hand, some defended Jennie, stating, "She is showing understanding and respect for her fans," and "Despite the wording, she expressed a willingness to accept criticism and improve."

The controversy began last July when Jennie was seen vaping indoors while receiving makeup in a video on her YouTube channel. The incident drew public ire, particularly because she blew smoke in the face of her makeup artist.

While some criticized Jennie for vaping indoors, the main issue was her behavior towards the staff, leading to widespread disappointment among the public.
