Actor Song Il-gook Transforms into Autumn Man, Showcases New Charms
Actor Song Il-gook has transformed into an autumn man, showcasing new charms.
The high-end magazine 'Bravo My Life' announced on the 29th that "Song Il-gook graced the cover of the September issue," and released various concept photos.
Previously known for his neat and upright image in suits, this photoshoot aimed to reveal a new side of Song Il-gook. He successfully pulled off trendy yet relaxed outfits, displaying a free-spirited and charismatic persona.
Song Il-gook, who ventured into the performing arts in 2011 with the play 'I Am You,' has been active in both plays and musicals. This summer, he played the role of Banquo in the play 'Macbeth,' experiencing intense days. He shared, "I did a lot of self-reflection while working with actor Hwang Jung-min, who has a commanding presence." He also praised director Yang Jung-woong.
Starting in October, Song Il-gook will take the stage in the musical 'Annie.' 'Annie' is a musical set during the Great Depression, depicting the bond between a hopeful girl named Annie and a wealthy man named Oliver Warbucks. Song Il-gook will play the role of the warm-hearted billionaire Warbucks, double-cast with musical veteran Nam Kyung-joo, drawing attention. He expressed his honor, saying, "My wife told me, 'You've made it.'"
Song Il-gook also revealed that he is working on losing weight. He said, "With triplets (Dae-han, Min-guk, and Man-se), there's always a lot of food at home, and as I get older, it's harder to lose weight. Before starting 'Macbeth,' I gained so much weight that my suits didn't fit," adding, "I've lost about 7-8kg so far, aiming for a total of 15kg." He emphasized that the key to dieting is eating less and moving more, mentioning that he runs along the Han River two to three times a week.
Regarding KBS2's 'The Return of Superman,' Song Il-gook said, "As an actor, I had concerns about appearing on a variety show, but in the end, I'm glad I did. It's nice to have a beautiful record of raising the triplets." However, he noted that the strong image of being a 'parenting god' has somewhat affected his acting career. Despite this, he does not regret appearing on 'The Return of Superman' and would do it again if given the chance.
Song Il-gook, who aims to be a good husband to his wife and a father he can be proud of to his children, shared his humble thoughts in an interview that can be found in the September issue of 'Bravo My Life.'
