Park Myung-soo "I haven't had a week off in 32 years"
Comedian Park Myung-soo spoke about the driving force that allowed him to work without a break for 32 years.

In the 3rd episode of MBC's 'Lecturers' (hereinafter referred to as 'Lecturers') broadcast on July 26, K-Buddhist cultural leader Geumgang Monk, Park Myung-soo, a comedian with 32 years of experience, and Kim Young-mi, a documentary producer specializing in conflict areas, discussed 'Limits'. He gave a lecture on the topic.

First, Monk Geumgang took the stage for a lecture. Recently, many people in their 20s and 30s are enthusiastic about Buddhist culture, such as temple stays and vegetarianism. Monk Geumgang conducted a short-term monkhood program for unemployed people during the IMF foreign exchange crisis and attempted temple stay for the first time in Korea. Monk Geumgang was surprised to see how the program participants changed day by day. Also, after hearing from a participant who had decided to commit suicide but found hope through the monasticism program, he resolved, “I will do this for the rest of my life.” Temple stay was started to save people.

Monk Geumgang said that he realized through experience that “limitations are my teacher.” He also said that in order to break through limitations and move forward, one must empty oneself. ‘Meditation’ was suggested as a method. During his lecture, Monk Geumgang led even heartthrobs and legends into the world of meditation. Through this, he offered heart-warming healing by urging, “I hope to break through limitations, find the paradise in my original mind, and live a free, peaceful, and happy life.”

Next, Park Myung-soo, a comedian with 32 years of experience, began his lecture. Park Myung-soo, who revealed that he has never had a single week off in 32 years, candidly confessed about his past when he had to constantly face 'limits' and the driving force that has enabled him to continue his active activities until now. Park Myung-soo chose three things as the secret to overcoming his ‘limitations’: ‘I am with a capital T’, ‘People are assets’, and ‘Desperation is a weapon’.

Park Myung-soo is a T-type person, so much so that he did not cry alone while other members cried profusely on 'Infinite Challenge'. As a result, Park Myung-soo was able to quickly face reality. In addition, Park Myung-soo has cherished his relationships with idols such as his manager and stylist who have been with him for 19 years, Yoo Jae-seok, who is like his benefactor, and GD, IU, BTS, Seventeen, Aespa, and New Jeans, with whom he has worked on music. Park Myung-soo then said, “I hung on like crazy and held on,” and said how important it is to be desperate. With these three secrets, Park Myung-soo was able to overcome his limits and become the Park Myung-soo he is today. Park Myung-soo’s way of thinking about limitations was, “That sounds like a limitation!”

The last legend to appear on stage was Kim Young-mi, a documentary producer specializing in conflict areas. Producer Youngmi Kim has covered conflict areas in over 80 countries, including East Timor, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, and the Russia-Ukraine war. Producer Kim Young-mi's extreme reporting story, which went beyond the limits of fear and even risked her life, was shocking in itself. Producer Kim Young-mi honestly confessed the story of covering the kidnapping of the Dongwon Ferry in Somalia for the first time as a domestic media outlet in 2006, the despair she felt from a Somali child suffering from starvation, and her sense of duty to convey all of this for the people's right to know.

In addition, PD Kim Young-mi revealed the tragic reality that war is becoming cheaper, the tragedy of white phosphorus, the world's most cruel weapon, and the cruelty of drone bombs witnessed in Ukraine and the trauma that Korea is also experiencing as a result. Producer Kim Young-mi pledged, “We will not stop reporting for the sake of our children.” In particular, PD Kim Young-mi shocked everyone by revealing that she always writes a will whenever she goes out to report. The message that PD Kim Young-mi emphasized was, “There are no limits to reporting for the next generation.”
