"Serious social problem" KBS suspends Kim Ho-joong from appearing on broadcasts temporarily

KBS issued a 'temporary suspension' from broadcast appearances on Kim Ho-joong (33), who was arrested on suspicion of drunken hit-and-run.

KBS announced on the 29th that it held a Broadcasting Appearance Regulation Review Committee and decided to 'temporarily suspend broadcast appearances' against Kim Ho-joong, who caused social controversy by drunken hit-and-run.

KBS said, "Although before the court's ruling, singer Kim Ho-joong has caused serious social controversy with repeated lies regarding a drunk driving accident, and petitions have been received from many viewers requesting that he be banned from appearing on broadcasts, so we have decided to 'temporarily suspend his appearances'." explained. He added, “We plan to adjust the level of regulation again in the future according to the court’s first trial ruling.”

Through the Broadcasting Appearance Regulation Review Committee, KBS makes decisions such as suspending broadcast appearances, temporarily restricting appearances, and recommending refraining from casting appearances on celebrities or ordinary people who have caused social controversy through illegal or immoral acts such as sexual violence, drunk driving, and drug crimes.

Previously, Kim Ho-jung crossed the center line on a road in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul at around 11:40 pm on the 9th and ran away after colliding with a taxi on the opposite side. After the accident, a manager instead of Kim Ho-jung changed Kim Ho-jung's clothes and appeared at the police station, confessing on his behalf that he had driven the car. Another manager confessed to damaging the black box memory card of Kim Ho-jung's car.

Lee Gwang-deuk, the representative of the agency, later falsely explained, "Kim Ho-joong never drank and was unable to deal with the accident due to panic disorder, and he was the one who instigated the proxy's surrender," arousing public outrage.

Ho-joong Kim is currently under arrest and under police investigation. The police plan to complete the investigation soon and forward it to the prosecution.
