Actor Moon Seong-geun takes a photo of North Korea's Kim Il-sung

Actor Moon Sung-geun revealed a photo taken with his father, the late Pastor Moon Ik-hwan, and North Korean President Kim Il-sung.

On the 11th, Moon Seong-geun shared the photo on his SNS without any comment.

The released photo shows Pastor Moon, who 'smuggled' into North Korea in March 1989, holding hands with Kim Il-sung with a bright smile. Moon Seong-geun appears to have posted this photo to record his father's 35 years of secretly sneaking into North Korea.

On March 25, 1989, Pastor Moon visited North Korea without government approval at the time, met with Kim Il-sung, and issued a joint statement containing a message of inter-Korean reconciliation, before returning on April 13, 20 days later.

Afterwards, Pastor Moon was arrested by the National Security Agency on charges of violating the National Security Act. In 1990, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison and 7 years of suspension of qualifications, and after serving time in prison, he was released in October of the same year due to a suspension of execution due to a chronic illness.

Seonggeun Moon is Pastor Moon’s third son. When Moon Seong-geun was asked on MBC Radio last January, "Did your family know about your father's illegal immigration into North Korea?", he said, "We knew. He was going to take his eldest son with him, but he couldn't go because he didn't have a passport," causing a huge controversy.

He also recalled about his father, "To put it in one word, I think he was a pastor and a person who tried to live the life of Jesus. He had such strength that I couldn't quite understand 'How on earth could he fight like that?'" .

Seong-geun Moon was also active in organizations such as 'Nosamo' (a group of people who love Roh Moo-hyun), which supports the late former President Roh Moo-hyun, and the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation. Recently, he has been supporting the opposition party by serving as the chairman of the support committee of the ‘Homeland Innovation Party’.

On the 13th of last month, Moon Seong-geun posted on his SNS, "I will vote for the 'New Cho Kuk Party' in the general election in April and the party vote to elect proportional members of the National Assembly." In response, the Fatherland Innovation Party praised Moon Seong-geun, saying, "He is a movie star who has lived a life of taking action against injustice whenever his country is in difficult times."
