Ock Joo-hyun's 'Rebecca' concludes Seoul performance for the seventh season
The musical 'Rebecca', which opened at Blue Square Shinhan Card Hall in Seoul on August 19th last year, successfully completed its last performance on November 19th, marking its 10th anniversary and successfully completing its seventh season. Since then, an encore performance has been confirmed at LG Art Center Seoul and LG SIGNATURE Hall from December 14 to February 24 last year, and continues to be a box office success.
With the seventh season's Seoul encore performance coming to an end on the 24th, the disappointment of audiences who love the work is growing as there are only 12 episodes left until the final performance. Accordingly, after wrapping up the Seoul performance, the musical 'Rebecca' will begin at the Dream Theater in Busan on March 2nd and continue with regional performances in Seongnam, Gwangju, Changwon, Jeonju, and Ulsan to meet the audience and alleviate their disappointment.
The musical 'Rebecca', which has established itself as Korea's representative musical by presenting seven seasons over 10 years, has generated an explosive audience response every season, and in this season, which celebrated its 10th anniversary, the cumulative audience exceeded 1 million, making it a million-selling musical. The musical 'Rebecca', which proved its continued popularity and box office success by ranking first in advance reservation rates with explosive buzz at every ticket opening, surpassed 1,000 performances through an encore performance.
The perfect harmony between the original cast and new cast and the performances of the actors also contributed to the seventh season's box office success. The original cast, including actors Ryu Jeong-han, Min Young-ki, Enoch, Shin Young-sook, Ok Joo-hyun, Lisa, Jang Eun-ah, Kim Bo-kyung, and Lee Ji-hye, who met the audience as 'Rebecca Artisan' in the previous season, appeared in the seventh season as well as Tei and Lee Ji-hye. The new cast, including Sue and Wendy, with solid skills and new charms, provided freshness. In the subsequent encore performance, Oh Man-seok and Lee Chang-yong, who had been together in the previous season, returned and gave strength to the work.
The musical 'Rebecca' is based on a novel by Daphne du Maurier, a representative British writer, and is also famous for being a film of the same name by Alfred Hitchcock, the master of thrillers. This work was created by Sylvester Levay, the composer of the musicals ‘Mozart!’ and ‘Elisabeth’, and Michael Kunze, the playwright. It is called a masterpiece by two legends of European musicals and was released in Korea in 2013. Since its premiere, it has returned for its seventh season this year, having aired in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2021.
Meanwhile, the final performance of the musical 'Rebecca' will be performed at LG Arts Center Seoul, LG SIGNATURE Hall until the 24th.
