Himchan from BAP, sentenced for rape and illegal filming today (1st)

Himchan, a former member of the BAP group, will be sentenced on sexual crime charges today (1st).

At 10 a.m. on the 1st, the 12th Division of Criminal Agreement of the Seoul Western District Court (Presiding Judge Kwon Seong-su) sentenced Himchan, who was charged with violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Rape and Sexual Assault Crimes (filming using cameras, etc., obscene acts using communication media), etc. The anniversary is underway.

Himchan is accused of sexually assaulting the victim in May of last year and then illegally filming and sending pornographic material to the victim. At the time, Himchan was on trial for a sexual harassment case, so it was a huge shock to the public.

Himchan admitted to all charges and appealed for leniency, but in the end, the prosecution requested seven years in prison. In addition, it was requested to issue orders such as disclosure of personal information, restrictions on employment related to children, adolescents, and the disabled for 10 years, attachment of a location tracking device for 3 years, and probation for 4 years.

Himchan was sentenced to 10 months in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s at a pension in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do in 2018. In addition, he was previously indicted on charges of sexually harassing two women at a bar in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul in April 2022.
