Song Ji-hyo receives 1 billion won from her former agency... Settlement win confirmed
Actress Song Ji-hyo's victory in the settlement claim lawsuit she filed against her former agency was finally confirmed.
According to the court on the 13th, Song Ji-hyo's former agency, Woojurox Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as Woojurox), did not submit an appeal to the Civil Settlement Division 45 of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Kim Kyung-soo), which heard the first trial, within the appeal period.
The period for appeal of a judgment in a civil lawsuit is within two weeks from the date the judgment is delivered. Song Ji-hyo was served the judgment on the 23rd of last month, and Woojurox was served the judgment on the 28th of the same month. Based on the late delivery date of Woojurox, the appeal period was until midnight on that day.
On the 22nd of last month, the court ruled that Woojurox should pay Song Ji-hyo 984 million won and some late interest. Considering this, the amount of compensation Song Ji-hyo will receive is expected to exceed 1 billion won.
He is known to have claimed that former CEO Park embezzled a total of 1.2 billion won, including about 900 million won in advertising model fees, and later filed a criminal complaint against Mr. Park on charges of embezzlement. Also, in May of last year, a lawsuit was filed in court requesting the settlement amount.
After filing the lawsuit, Woojurox received a complaint and documentary evidence from the court, but it is said that they have consistently remained inactive, such as not appointing a separate litigation representative and not submitting a response.
Under the current Civil Procedure Act, if the defendant does not submit a response after the plaintiff files the complaint, the court makes a ruling to the effect of citing the plaintiff's claims without a defense.
Meanwhile, Song Ji-hyo signed an exclusive contract with Nexus E&M last October.
