'Habitual drug addict' Yoo Ah-in, first trial on November 14th... A war begins to avoid imprisonment.
Actor Yoo Ah-in (37, real name Um Hong-sik)'s first trial on drug charges will be held on the 14th of next month.
Criminal Agreement Division 25-1 of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judges Park Jeong-gil, Park Jeong-je, and Ji Gwi-yeon) set November 14 as the first trial date for Yoo Ah-in, who was handed over to trial on charges of violation of the Narcotics Control Act (hypotoxication) on the 23rd.
Yoo Ah-in is accused of habitually administering propofol 181 times from September 2020 to March of last year, and illegally prescribing sleeping pills under someone else's name 44 times from May 2021 to August of last year. In addition, there are a total of four types of medical narcotics confirmed to have been administered by Yoo Ah-in, including propofol, midazolam, ketamine, and remimazolam.
In addition, in January of last year, he was accused of smoking marijuana in the United States with four other people, including his accomplice, an acquaintance named Choi (32), and of instructing others to smoke.
Previously, Yoo Ah-in avoided both arrest warrants and was handed over to trial without detention. The court judged that there was a lack of necessity and reasonableness to imprison Yoo Ah-in, citing the fact that a significant amount of evidence had been secured and that he had admitted to some of the crimes. In addition, the reason was that they wanted to guarantee the right to defense because there was room for dispute about some of the charges.
