Kim Sae-ron, first trial for drunk driving accident today (8th)
On the 8th, Judge Lee Hwan-ki of the 4th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court will hold the first trial of Sae-ron Kim, who was indicted on charges including violation of the Road Traffic Act (drinking driving). Mr. A, who was riding with Kim Sae-ron at the time of the accident, was also indicted on charges of aiding and abetting drunk driving.
Kim Sae-ron got behind the wheel while intoxicated at around 8 a.m. on May 18 last year at Hakdong intersection in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. He was put on trial on charges of causing an accident in which he hit a street tree and a transformer several times.
Due to the accident, the area around the accident site was blacked out for approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes. As a result, surrounding commercial areas suffered damage. Kim Sae-ron is known to have visited stores to apologize and pay compensation.
Kim Sae-ron posted a handwritten apology. He said, "I am sorry for providing a late statement after organizing the accident and damage situation," and added, "I had an accident damaging public property in Gangnam around 8 a.m. on May 18. I was drunk at the time and made a big mistake. "he said.
He continued, "Through my wrong judgment and actions, I caused harm to too many people, including merchants in nearby shopping malls, citizens, and those involved in restoration work. I should have acted more carefully and responsibly, but I failed to do so. I sincerely apologize. I will communicate and be proactive until the end. “We will do our best to resolve the issue,” he added.
Kim Sae-ron withdrew from the drama 'Trolley', in which she was scheduled to appear, and a portion of the Netflix series 'Hunting Dog' was edited out. Regarding this, Kim Sae-ron said, "I am very sorry to my fellow actors, staff, and the production team for causing a disruption in the production of the work I am filming and the work I was preparing. I once again apologize deeply and apologize for any inconvenience caused." Additionally, the contract with the agency was terminated.
On June 28 of the same year, the police sent Kim Sae-ron to the prosecution without detention on charges of drunk driving and failure to take action after an accident. The prosecution indicted Kim Sae-ron without detention after about six months. Kim Sae-ron, who was in self-reflection, became a hot topic after posting a picture of a cigarette and a painting on social media. In addition, it was reported that he had spent all the money he had saved while working to compensate for the damage.
