Hong Jin-young was not the only victim of fake news. A claim emerged that Song Ga-in made a surprise announcement of her marriage to Kim Ho-jung. As the absurd facts spread uncontrollably, Song Ga-in's agency, Pocket Doll Studio, said, "Recently, false facts were spread through YouTube. The news of the couple's marriage is groundless."

Now that unverified fake news is being spread over and over again, there is an even more urgent need for a mechanism to impose strong punishment.
