On the October 4th episode of Channel A's 'Detectives' Secret Business', a segment titled 'Detective 24 Hours' revealed a woman's desperate plea: "I can't find out if my pet dog is alive or dead." The client had left her Golden Doodle, 'Cloudy' (a pseudonym), with a temporary caretaker due to an overseas assignment in October 2024. Initially, Cloudy seemed well-cared for, gaining weight and showing no signs of distress.
However, in August 2025, as preparations for Cloudy's overseas transport began, problems arose. The caretaker postponed the arrangements to December, citing busyness, and then cut off contact. On December 27th, the caretaker sent a message stating, "Cloudy has died," and claimed that the funeral and cremation had already taken place. Yet, when the client checked with the veterinary clinic, they found no record of such treatment. Upon returning to the caretaker's home, the client was met with a disturbing scene: a foul odor so strong it was hard to breathe, and the sound of computer games from inside, but the caretaker refused to open the door, leaving the client to depart for Korea without confirming Cloudy's fate.
An animal detective immediately headed to the caretaker's address to verify Cloudy's status. Neighbors living above the caretaker reported suffering from a pervasive stench and loud barking from the apartment. Shockingly, they noted that since last summer, the barking had ceased, and the odor had worsened. This revelation heightened the tension, with Defconn expressing concern over the worst-case scenario and Yoo In-na admitting her anxiety.
The animal detective then tracked the caretaker's social media and interviewed acquaintances. Reports surfaced that the caretaker owned 11 dogs, had sent some overseas for adoption, and aspired to be a dog trainer. Eventually, someone familiar with the caretaker came forward with shocking revelations. The truth behind the 'Cloudy Death Case', which involved the largest team of police and animal detectives in the show's history, will be unveiled in next week's episode.
Meanwhile, in the 'Case Notebook' segment, another case left everyone stunned: a client suspected her husband and sister of having an affair. The client's husband, who owned a commercial property, and her sister, a real estate agent, had been in frequent contact due to work, often going out together for site visits. The client discovered the affair through a secretive conversation recorded on her husband's car dashcam, where he insultingly referred to her as "just a good dishwasher."
As detectives investigated, they caught the pair on dates at motels, restaurants, and cafes. However, two months later, the client's husband unexpectedly sought the detective agency's help to find his "missing wife." He claimed that due to the affair with his sister-in-law, he had transferred assets to his wife's name, only for her to disappear with $30 million from the sale of a commercial property. The investigation revealed that the wife was pregnant and had fled to Vietnam with her lover. But the most shocking twist lay in the background of these events.
Six months earlier, the sister had decided to separate her sister from her husband due to financial disputes. She introduced her sister to a man and facilitated their secret meetings, even orchestrating a staged affair to secure a divorce and asset division. The husband, seeking to avoid tax liabilities, agreed to a sham divorce through a fake affair with his sister-in-law. The trio hired detectives to fabricate evidence of infidelity and staged a mutual divorce.
Ultimately, the husband successfully concealed most of his assets by transferring them to his wife, evading tax collection. However, it was all part of a betrayal by the sisters, leading to a legal battle. Kim Poong, observing the case, remarked, "It's hard to believe this isn't a movie... What people will do for money," while guest detective Pani Bottle commented, "The world is much more complicated and difficult than I thought."
