Kim Ji-min, wife of Kim Jun-ho, expressed her anger over a story involving a child born from an affair.
The 18th episode of SBS Plus's 'Lee Ho-sun's Cider,' aired on the 2nd, focused on the theme 'Chains of Blood Ties.' The episode featured stories more dramatic than soap operas, including a father ignored by his family after retirement, a wife jealous of her husband's daughter, and a couple conflicted over a child born from an affair.
The top story of the day involved a North Korean defector mother who appeared in the studio, shocking everyone with her tale of suffering due to her son, who drinks every day. Despite graduating from a prestigious university and having two children, her son repeatedly failed in business ventures funded by the family, eventually turning to alcohol and getting divorced. His violent behavior, including visiting his girlfriend's house and causing trouble, even landed him in detention. The mother also expressed concern over her grandson, whom her son insisted on raising, leaving Lee Ho-sun and Kim Ji-min tense.
Lee Ho-sun pinpointed the issue, stating, "Alcohol isn't the problem; there's another issue." He added, "This son knows his mother would sell her organs to give him money. He needs to experience hardship," and warned, "If everything is handed to him, he'll become a worthless bum," bringing the mother to tears.
Lee Ho-sun advised the mother, "First, don't give him a single cent. Second, move far away. Third, don't meet him for five years." He emphasized, "You must love your children fiercely, but sometimes you must love them sternly." The mother, inspired by Lee's advice, declared, "When I set my mind to something, I do it," to which Lee responded with encouragement, "I believe in you."
Kim Ji-min was moved by a story of a father feeling isolated by his family, recalling, "I regret not having a drink with my late father. It makes me cry a lot," and warned, "The children will regret it." In the story of a father raising a child born from an affair, she was angered by the indifferent mother, stating, "A mother should take responsibility. Just giving birth doesn't make you a parent."
