Comedian Yang Sang-guk has issued an apology following backlash over his controversial remarks on the show 'Pingego.' The comedian faced criticism from viewers after making several contentious statements during his appearance.
On October 2, the YouTube channel 'Ddeun Ddeun' released the 106th episode of 'Pingego,' titled 'Ambassador is an Excuse.' The episode featured guests Han Sang-jin, Yang Sang-guk, and Nam Chang-hee.
Yang Sang-guk came under fire for comments made while discussing his views on relationships. In response to Nam Chang-hee's desire to support his wife, Yang remarked, "That's a dangerous thought. Seoul men are good at this," adding, "I don't even drive my girlfriend home after dates." He continued, "I've never driven a girlfriend home. I did it once, and she felt more loved."
Yoo Jae-suk countered, "It's not like you deliberately don't drive them home. Sometimes it's nice to do so," but Yang retorted, "I usually listen to Yoo Jae-suk's advice, but not on this." This exchange sparked further controversy over Yang's attitude, leaving Yoo Jae-suk chuckling awkwardly.
Yang also questioned Yoo Jae-suk about recycling, saying, "People might think you don't do it," before attempting to backtrack on his statement. His precarious remarks continued throughout the broadcast, with the cast trying to lighten the mood.
The video drew comments criticizing Yang's statements as "patriarchal" and "self-sabotaging," with viewers noting, "Not all people from Gyeongsang Province are like that." As the controversy grew, Yang's personal Instagram was flooded with comments urging him not to disguise rudeness as honesty and to be more cautious with his words.
In response, Yang has been apologizing through Instagram comments, saying, "I'm very sorry for making you uncomfortable," "You're right. I will try harder," and "Please don't be upset because of me and have a great week." His apologies have received mixed reactions, with both support and criticism filling the comment section.
