Actor Jung Jae-sung has been cast in the TVING original series 'The Legendary Cook'.
The TVING original 'The Legendary Cook' (written by Choi Ryong, directed by Jo Nam-hyung, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Studio Dragon & Studio N, provided by TVING) is a military cooking fantasy drama that follows Private Kang Sung-jae (played by Park Ji-hoon) as he transforms from wielding a rifle to a kitchen knife, and from wearing a bandolier to an apron, becoming a 'legendary cook'.
Jung Jae-sung will play the role of 'Major General Kim In-tae', a graduate of the Korea Military Academy and the commander of the 29th Division. Kim In-tae becomes entangled in various incidents throughout the series and is portrayed as a supportive ally who recognizes and aids the protagonist Kang Sung-jae's abilities, providing a stable center of gravity for the narrative.
In particular, Jung Jae-sung is expected to bring to life the human struggles and responsibilities of Major General Kim In-tae from the original webtoon. His portrayal will highlight the character's warm support for Kang Sung-jae's growth, alongside the challenges faced within the military organization, maximizing the character's appeal with his solid acting skills.
Jung Jae-sung is a veteran actor known for leaving a strong impression in significant films such as 'Veteran', 'Inside Men', 'Hunt', and 'Negotiation', as well as in popular dramas like 'Judge Lee Han-young', 'Good Partner', 'Prison Playbook', 'My Mister', 'The World of the Married', and 'Marry My Husband'.
With a wide range of roles from cold high-ranking officials to friendly neighbors, Jung Jae-sung's unique ability to control the pace of his performance is expected to enhance the immersion of the drama, set in the unique environment of a military cooking competition and growth story.
Meanwhile, 'The Legendary Cook', featuring a star-studded lineup including Jung Jae-sung and Park Ji-hoon, is set to premiere on May 11 at 8:50 PM on TVING and tvN.
