Jeon Hye-jin and Jin Goo are set to clash over the title of successor to the Choi Sung Group.
Premiering on May 30th, JTBC's new weekend drama 'Chairman Kang' (created by Kim Soon-ok, written by Hyun Ji-min, directed by Go Hye-jin, produced by SLL and Corpus Korea, based on the original work by San Kyung) tells the story of Kang Yong-ho (played by Son Hyun-joo), the chairman of the prestigious Choi Sung Group, who is known as the god of business and is forced to live an unwanted second life after an accident.
In 'Chairman Kang', Kang Yong-ho's daughter, Kang Jae-kyung (played by Jeon Hye-jin), and son, Kang Jae-sung (played by Jin Goo), are set to fiercely compete for the successor position, hinting at their contrasting strategies.
Kang Jae-kyung, the president of Choi Sung Chemical, a subsidiary of Choi Sung Group, is known for her strong ambition and possessiveness. With bold actions and unstoppable drive, she is determined to acquire whatever she sets her sights on, whether it's people or business. Her steely determination remains unshaken even after Kang Yong-ho's sudden accident, as she moves to take control of Choi Sung Group.
On the other hand, Kang Jae-sung, unlike Kang Jae-kyung, has a smaller presence but holds the position of president of Choi Sung Trading, one of the core subsidiaries, solely due to his title as the eldest son. Having been compared to Kang Jae-kyung throughout his childhood, he harbors deep insecurities. However, he uses his connections and the support of his influential in-laws to challenge Kang Jae-kyung.
The stark differences between the twins are evident in the released photos. Kang Jae-kyung maintains a poker face and exudes elegance, while Kang Jae-sung's expressions openly reveal his emotions, hinting at their polar opposite management styles.
The question of who will ultimately inherit the throne—Kang Jae-kyung with her natural assertiveness or Kang Jae-sung with his claim as the eldest son—adds to the intrigue. The actors themselves share insights into their characters' strategies, heightening interest.
Jeon Hye-jin, who plays Kang Jae-kyung, stated, "Kang Jae-kyung's strength lies in her drive and passion to finish and resolve matters, regardless of the means," foreshadowing her character's intense charisma.
Jin Goo, portraying Kang Jae-sung, remarked, "Kang Jae-sung's decisive move is his human side hidden behind his clumsiness," adding, "As time goes on, Kang Jae-sung's humanity will unexpectedly shake things up, so please look forward to and support the development of 'Chairman Kang'."
JTBC's new weekend drama 'Chairman Kang' premieres on May 30th at 10:40 PM.
