In 2014, Shin Hae-chul was preparing to make a comeback after a six-year hiatus. While busy preparing for a new album with his band N.EX.T, he suddenly experienced abdominal pain in October and visited a hospital. He was diagnosed with intestinal obstruction and underwent surgery for intestinal stenosis.
The tragedy began in the operating room. The surgeon who performed the operation made a peculiar comment afterward, saying, "I stitched up the stomach a bit, so you won't be able to eat much now."
