Bae Jong-ok Shines in Dual Role in 'Fighting Against One's Worthlessness'
Bae Jong-ok captivates audiences with her dual role in the JTBC weekend drama 'Fighting Against One's Worthlessness'.

In the episodes aired on the 2nd and 3rd, Bae Jong-ok portrays the character of Oh Jung-hee, a veteran actress and a perfectionist who faces a career crisis when a post reveals she neglected her daughter, Byun Eun-ah, played by Go Yoon-jung.

Oh Jung-hee, known for her award-winning performances, is thrown into turmoil upon learning that her daughter has been struggling while working at Choi Film. Her emotions oscillate between anger towards her ex-husband and guilt towards her daughter.

In a tense moment, Oh Jung-hee firmly tells her agency's representative, "Don't call anyone. I'll do it," while exhibiting controlling behavior towards her stepdaughter, Jang Mi-ran, played by Han Sun-hwa, showcasing her distorted maternal instincts.

The duality of Oh Jung-hee's character peaks during an awards ceremony. Before stepping onto the red carpet, she reassures Byun Eun-ah over the phone, "I never abandoned you," only to be met with a cold response that shakes her. Yet, as the car door opens, she masks her emotions with a graceful smile, embodying the facade of a top actress.

Winning the Best Actress award for 'My Mother', Oh Jung-hee publicly confesses her guilt and regret towards her daughters, earning a standing ovation. However, backstage, she collapses into a stoic expression, highlighting the stark contrast in her character.

Bae Jong-ok masterfully conveys Oh Jung-hee's complex inner world with subtle expressions and voice nuances. Her bold purple lip color and sharp smoky makeup further enhance her cold charisma.

'Fighting Against One's Worthlessness' airs every Saturday at 10:40 PM and Sunday at 10:30 PM.
