On the 27th, at the Ten Asia office in Chungjeong-ro, Seoul, Jung Yi-chan, the lead actor in TV Chosun's weekend drama 'Dr. Shin' (directed by Lee Seung-hoon), discussed his experiences.
'Dr. Shin' marks Jung Yi-chan's first leading role, where he collaborated with the renowned writer Lim Seong-han. Speaking about Lim, who is known for her enigmatic presence, Jung described her as "like a deity." He added, "She may seem cold, but she is actually warm-hearted and has a lot of affection, though she expresses it in a 'tsundere' way."
Jung noted, "The writer definitely has charisma. When I first met her at the audition, her aura made me think she might be intimidating."
However, as they began working together, Jung found Lim to be attentive and considerate towards the actors. He recalled, "When I mentioned to her that I was eating a lot of eggs for my workout, she immediately called to advise me against consuming too many yolks." He added, "If she hears an actor is unwell, she calls right away. She often brings food during rehearsals and is incredibly sweet."
Lim also provided significant guidance to the actors. Jung shared, "She frequently communicates with the actors. If I have questions about the script and text her, she calls even at 1 or 2 AM." He expressed gratitude, saying, "She never gives answers directly, encouraging us to think for ourselves, which has been immensely helpful."
Meanwhile, 'Dr. Shin' is a medical thriller melodrama about a genius doctor whose life changes after a loved one experiences an unexpected accident. Jung Yi-chan plays the role of Shin Ju-shin, a neurosurgery expert and genius doctor.
