Renowned singer Yoon Bok-hee recently opened up about the painful reasons behind her multiple abortions.
On the October 2nd episode of MBN's 'Kim Joo-ha's Day & Night,' Yoon Bok-hee, celebrating her 75th debut anniversary, appeared as a guest.
During the show, Yoon Bok-hee revealed, “Even if I got married, I couldn’t have children,” discussing a clause in her contract that prohibited pregnancy. She shared the heartbreaking story of having to undergo four abortions to continue performing on stage.
Despite facing challenges like uterine cancer surgery and macular degeneration, Yoon Bok-hee remained committed to her performances. She also revealed that her iconic song 'Everyone,' which has amassed over 31 million views through covers by artists like Lee Sun-hee, Im Jae-bum, Kim Kyung-ho, and Kim Jae-joong, originally had English lyrics. It was adapted to Korean for the '1979 Seoul International Song Festival.' Listening to this, Jo Jazz performed the first verse of 'Everyone' in tribute, and Yoon Bok-hee, moved, sang the second verse in English, earning a standing ovation.
In another surprising revelation, Yoon Bok-hee mentioned that although she has no children, many call her 'mom,' including actors Choi Min-soo and Heo Joon-ho. She shared that Heo Joon-ho organized a performance for her at the Dolby Theatre in LA as a 70th birthday gift, which led to a series of concerts in Korea, allowing her to connect with audiences and express her gratitude.
Finally, Yoon Bok-hee expressed her desire to be known more as a musical actress than a singer. She transformed the studio into a VVIP seat of a musical theater by performing 'Gethsemane' from the musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar,' stating that she feels blessed every time she sings.
