Jang Dong-min Discusses Ratings Goals and Future of 'The Best Mountain' at Press Conference
Jang Dong-min humorously discussed the ratings goals and potential for regular programming at the press conference for 'The Best Mountain'.

On the afternoon of the 28th of last month, a press conference for 'The Best Mountain' was held at the Golden Mouse Hall in Sangam, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by Yoo Se-yoon, Jang Dong-min, Heo Kyung-hwan, Boom, Yang Se-hyung, and PD Kim Myung-yeop.

'The Best Mountain' is MBC's first-ever mountain variety show where participants complete missions in the mountains to collect acorns and compete to reach the summit. The show features a lineup of veteran comedians, including Yoo Se-yoon, the winner of the '2025 MBC Entertainment Awards' Best Male Entertainer, and the so-called 'losers' Jang Dong-min, Boom, Yang Se-hyung, and Heo Kyung-hwan.

This program follows the variety show 'Manito Club', which ended last month with a low rating of 0.9%. When asked about the target ratings, PD Kim Myung-yeop stated, "Ratings fluctuate depending on the season and competing programs. Recently, the 2049 ratings for 'Running Man' and '2 Days & 1 Night' have been around 2%. Our goal is to surpass that, and achieving that number is crucial for 'The Best Mountain' to become a regular program."

Yang Se-hyung responded, "Our program is a five-episode pilot. Does that mean if we exceed 2% even once, it will become a regular show?" Jang Dong-min jokingly added, "We need to clarify things here because the broadcasting folks keep talking nonsense."

Boom added, "We have a Plan B. If 'The Best Mountain' doesn't meet our desired ratings, we'll switch from 'The Best Mountain' to 'The Best Sea' and head to the ocean. We're ready to activate Plan B," eliciting laughter.

'The Best Mountain' premieres on May 3rd at 6 PM on MBC.
