Rapper Sik-K Receives Suspended Sentence in Drug Case Appeal

Rapper Sik-K (real name Kwon Min-sik, 32) has been handed a suspended prison sentence in his drug case appeal.

On the morning of the 30th, the Seoul Western District Court's Criminal Appeal Division 2-1 (Chief Judge Jeong Seong-kyun) held the appellate sentencing for Sik-K, who was charged with violating the Narcotics Control Act (marijuana) and other offenses.

The court stated, "Considering the high recidivism rate of drug crimes, it seems appropriate to impose a strict punishment," but concluded, "However, it is reasonable to maintain the original sentence."

Previously, the first trial court sentenced Sik-K to 10 months in prison, suspended for 2 years, along with probation and mandatory drug treatment lectures. During the first appeal hearing on the 2nd, the prosecution argued that the original sentence was too lenient and sought a 3-year and 6-month prison term, but this was not accepted.

In January of last year, Sik-K approached an on-duty police officer in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, asking, "Is this a police station?" and voluntarily confessed to drug use. The investigation revealed charges of ketamine and ecstasy use in October 2023, and marijuana smoking and possession in January 2024.
