On the episode aired on the 28th, Koo Soo-kyung competed against Japanese representative Tae Ri on MBN's music variety show '2026 Korea-Japan King of Singers'.
The episode featured the second round of the finals, a '1-on-1 Song Mission', where Koo Soo-kyung faced off against Tae Ri. Both singers, known for their powerful vocals, were highly anticipated by the audience.
Koo Soo-kyung, who had never lost since 'Current King 3', faced a challenge as Tae Ri declared, “I will hand Koo Soo-kyung her first defeat.” In response, Koo Soo-kyung confidently stated, “I am also a strong sister from Korea. Victory will be mine.”
Both artists chose Jang Yoon-jung's 'Sarang-a' and immediately captivated the studio with their high-pitched vocal battle. Koo Soo-kyung impressed with her powerful voice and a stunning performance using a ribbon, capturing everyone's attention.
After the performance, Jung Soo praised Koo Soo-kyung, saying, “I was happy to see such overflowing energy.” However, the result was 83 to 57 in favor of Tae Ri, ending Koo Soo-kyung's undefeated streak from 'Current King 3'.
In the first round, Koo Soo-kyung showcased her incredible vocal skills with Park Wan-kyu's 'A Thousand Years of Love', earning high praise from the Japanese team, who described her voice as “like a million volts” and “like thunder.” Additionally, in the '1:1 Impromptu Selection', she teamed up with Kang Hye-yeon to deliver a flawless performance of Lee Eun-ha's 'Don't Turn Back', securing a valuable victory.
