The group 82MAJOR has returned with a more mature sound. On the 28th, 82MAJOR (comprising Nam Sung-mo, Park Seok-jun, Yoon Ye-chan, Jo Sung-il, Hwang Sung-bin, and Kim Do-kyun) held a media showcase at Yes24 Wonder Rock Hall in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their fifth mini-album 'FEELM'.
'FEELM' is their first album in about six months since their previous mini-album 'Trophy' released in October last year. All members participated in writing, composing, and arranging the album. The title track 'Sign' features a dreamy melody and restrained beat, depicting the exchange of emotions and the closeness between two people through lyrics about a 'signal that connects you and me', with a catchy hook.
The group has toned down their previously intense style, returning with a calm and mature image. Previously known for wearing matching leather outfits on stage, this time they opted for suits. Yoon Ye-chan admitted, "I felt a bit pressured. It was difficult at first because it was a new style and concept for us," but added, "I became more comfortable after practicing and discussing with the members." Hwang Sung-bin explained, "Challenging new music was fun in itself. We believe in creating music that we enjoy and love. Preparing for the album was enjoyable, and I hope this feeling is conveyed to the audience."
The team's atmosphere greatly influences 82MAJOR's unique musical style. Jo Sung-il shared, "Except for the youngest, we're all the same age. The youngest isn't much younger and is strong, so he keeps us in line. We have a great relationship and teamwork, which shows in our music. We can give clear and bold feedback on ideas, leading to good music."
The choreography, which utilizes wrist movements, is a highlight of the title track. Jo Sung-il expressed satisfaction, saying, "The team that choreographed for us created a great dance. As soon as I heard the chorus, I thought it would be great for a challenge, and it's the most challenge-friendly choreography among our title tracks."
They expressed a desire to film a challenge with actor Lee Byung-hun and BTS's Jungkook. Nam Sung-mo said, "I want to film a challenge with actor Lee Byung-hun. The challenge choreography reminded me of a gesture from 'Inside Men'," causing laughter. Park Seok-jun added, "I was touched when BTS's Jungkook reposted our post on social media. I want to express my gratitude by doing a challenge together."
When asked about 82MAJOR's unique qualities, Ye-chan humorously replied, "Our visuals and the fact that all members are tall are our unique points," drawing laughter. He continued, "The members don't just write lyrics; they also create top lines and beats," emphasizing their musical capabilities. Park Seok-jun also stated, "We love creating our own music. We're sincere about our work, participating in writing and composing most of the tracks."
As 82MAJOR makes their comeback, various artists are returning to the music scene. Jo Sung-il shared, "The competition this time is intense. We want to showcase our music and performances to many people and achieve good results on music shows and charts." He added, "We will continue to grow for better music. We hope our music reaches more people."
82MAJOR's fifth mini-album 'FEELM' was released on various music sites at 6 PM today.
