ASTRO's Cha Eun-woo Resurfaces Amidst $150 Million Tax Evasion Controversy
Cha Eun-woo, a member of the K-pop group ASTRO and an actor, has been spotted for the first time since his $150 million tax evasion controversy.

On the 28th, various online communities shared images of Cha Eun-woo participating in a recent military band event.

In the photos, Cha Eun-woo is seen in a suit, holding a microphone and saluting among orchestra members. This marks his first public appearance since the tax evasion allegations surfaced in January.

Notably, Cha Eun-woo appears unchanged in his appearance since his enlistment, neither gaining nor losing weight.

Earlier in January, it was reported that the National Tax Service had raised issues with the corporate structure established by his mother and his management contract, leading to a significant income tax assessment. The alleged tax evasion amount was approximately $150 million.

As the controversy grew, Cha Eun-woo stated, "I will sincerely participate in the ongoing tax-related procedures and humbly accept the final judgment from the relevant authorities, fulfilling my responsibilities accordingly."

On the 8th, Cha Eun-woo announced that he had paid all the assessed taxes. He also apologized, saying, "I sincerely apologize for the disappointment and confusion caused by the recent tax controversy involving me. I am deeply reflecting on this matter, given the love and support I have received from many."

The amount he paid was approximately $97 million, as some of the previously paid taxes were recognized as double taxation and refunded.

Meanwhile, Cha Eun-woo enlisted in July last year and is currently serving in the military band. His discharge is scheduled for January 2027.
