Why 'I Am Solo' Star Youngsoo Chose a Regional University Over a Prestigious Seoul School
Youngsoo, a contestant from the 30th season of 'I Am Solo,' has recently sparked interest with his unique educational choices and successful career path. Despite having the opportunity to attend a top-tier university in Seoul after graduating from a prestigious foreign language high school, Youngsoo opted for a regional national university, a decision that has now become a topic of discussion.

In a recent Instagram post titled 'How 30th Season Youngsoo Ended Up Here,' Youngsoo shared a short video detailing the intense decision-making process regarding his academics and career path. During his time at Busan Foreign Language High School, Youngsoo maintained excellent grades and was accepted into both Busan University's Business Administration program and Kyung Hee University in Seoul. However, he chose Busan, and in the video, he candidly explained his reasoning.

Youngsoo emphasized that although his grades were sufficient for a Seoul university, his decision was based on an objective analysis of his lifestyle habits. He revealed that he needed strict self-control and feared that living alone in Seoul might lead him to waste time on leisure activities like drinking or dating, rather than focusing on his studies. He humorously added that his good looks, as shown in his high school graduation photo, might have led to more temptations.

Financial practicality also played a crucial role in Youngsoo's decision. Although his family's financial situation was stable, attending Busan University came with the benefit of a full scholarship for four years. Considering the high tuition and living expenses associated with Seoul universities, Youngsoo believed that focusing on his studies at a reputable regional university was a more rational choice.

Ultimately, under his parents' careful guidance, Youngsoo graduated with honors, achieving a GPA of 4.33 out of 4.5, and immediately secured a position in the HR department at Hyundai Heavy Industries. Youngsoo's story highlights the importance of finding an environment that suits one's personal needs over blindly following prestigious academic paths, leaving a lasting impression on many.
