Koo Kyo-hwan Opens Up About On-Set Chemistry and Hilarious MC Mishap with Director Lee Ok-seop

Actor Koo Kyo-hwan candidly shared his experience of a failed MC stint with his girlfriend, director Lee Ok-seop, on the YouTube show 'Salon Drip'.

On the 28th, Koo appeared on the show, showcasing his wit and humor. He discussed behind-the-scenes stories from the JTBC weekend drama 'Everyone is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness' (hereafter 'EFOW') and his chemistry with co-star Go Yoon-jung. Koo humorously recounted, "Recently, I approached Yoon-jung very slowly to avoid startling her. At first, I made one joke, then two the next day, and yesterday, I made 142 jokes."

Koo spoke about his chemistry with Go, saying, "Our horoscopes matched perfectly. When we input our birth times, it showed that we were ideal colleagues, and it was spot on. Our approach to the work and what we felt about each other were all there."

Regarding their acting synergy, Koo praised Go, saying, "She acts with her eyes, delivering lines through her gaze. After a scene, it felt like I had heard all of Yoon-jung's lines." He added, "When I pour out my acting, she matches the rhythm, responding as if playing a rhythm game."

Koo also opened up about his on-set demeanor, admitting, "There were times when I was awkward and overly excited, pretending to be in a good mood. I couldn't stop talking, and it felt like I was out of control, like I had made a mistake while drunk, even though I hadn't been drinking. It seems to be a result of my anxiety."

Previously, Koo had expressed his ambition to fill in for Jang Do-yeon as an MC, but he humorously blamed the failure on his dynamic with Lee Ok-seop, saying, "Honestly, it was embarrassing. The problem was the 2MC setup with my girlfriend." He emphasized, "She was a complete novice, while I had veteran energy, so I had to tone down my skills to balance it out."

Reflecting on the aftermath, Koo recalled, "After the recording, we rode in the car together without saying a word, just sighing. It was too painful to even reflect on it." Yet, he added with a laugh, "She has ambition too, so she should have done better. Of course, I should have done better as well."

Meanwhile, Koo Kyo-hwan has been in a public relationship with film director Lee Ok-seop for 12 years.
