K-pop singer Soyou recently shared a story about discovering an imposter in a celebrity group chat.
On the 23rd, Soyou appeared on the '12th Floor' channel and explained why she avoids certain nicknames.
Soyou recalled, “There was a group chat for people born in 1991, and suddenly one member's way of speaking became strange. They kept calling me 'Yuya'.”
She mentioned that the member was Mir, formerly of the group MBLAQ, and said, “He usually calls me 'Bbangkuddongkku,' so it was odd. I asked someone else for Mir's number just to be sure.” It turned out that Mir's number had changed, and an unknown person had entered the chat.
Soyou explained her response, “Since all the chat members were celebrities, I contacted them individually and suggested we quietly leave the chat without making it obvious.”
Regarding the imposter's presence, she added, “I'm not sure what was linked, but that was the situation back then.”
Co-host Kwak Beom was shocked, asking, “Was someone else in the chat?” while Kim Won-hoon expressed chills, saying, “Were they watching the whole time?” Kim Ji-yoo also couldn't hide her surprise, saying, “That's so scary.”
Soyou added, “Because I disliked being called 'Yuya' so much back then, my friends now tease me by calling me that.”
Online reactions have varied, with comments like, “It's shocking that a stranger was spying,” “The imposter must have been surprised to find a room full of celebrities,” and “It's chilling that they watched without revealing themselves.”
