KBS Joy's '20th Century Hit Song' is set to unveil hit tracks from artists whose musical talents were overshadowed by their striking appearances.
Airing on the 24th at 8:30 PM, the 310th episode will focus on the theme 'Shining Visuals, Overlooked Talents'.
The episode will feature Yoon Soo-il's 'Dazzling Confession', a rock-trot song with a lively new wave sound. Known for its stand-mic dance performance, the song remains popular, often cited in communities as an 'intro song that invites sing-alongs'.
Upon viewing his performance, Kim Hee-chul expressed surprise, noting, "His appearance is very Western." Yoon Soo-il, a pioneer of the visual era with the advent of color TV, captivated female fans with his superior physique and stage presence. It was revealed that fans even camped outside his home, using newspapers as blankets.
His use of sunglasses on stage also made waves among men, earning him the title of 'original fashionista'. He was recognized as a fashion icon, winning the singer category at the first Korea Best Dresser Awards. Mi-joo commented, "His ability to pull off outfits is exceptional, so it's no surprise he was chosen."
Yoon Soo-il was not only a visual icon but also a talented musician. He wrote, composed, and produced most of his music, establishing himself as a versatile artist of the 1980s. He pioneered a new genre called 'City Music', incorporating Western new wave elements.
Despite facing prejudice early in his career due to his mixed heritage, with an American father and Korean mother, he remained steadfast in his musical convictions, ultimately proving his unique presence through talent.
