K-pop singer Soyou has revealed that she has been avoiding crowded places due to a false rumor about her swearing at someone.
On the 22nd, the YouTube channel 'Okiki' released a video titled 'How Rumors Spread in This Industry | Anyway, We Came to Talk EP.22 Rumors'.
In the video, the participants discussed the absurd rumors they had been caught up in. Soyou recalled, "It was a birthday party for a senior I am close with. I got drunk towards the end, and as soon as I felt the alcohol hit, I called my manager and left." She continued, "I know that person was there. I greeted them and left. But suddenly, I started hearing rumors." She added, "People said I swore at them, asking 'Why did you do that?'" When asked by Heo Sung-beom, "To a senior?" Soyou replied, "Yes, but I would never do something like that," expressing her frustration.
Soyou, who couldn't remember the latter part of the night due to her intoxication, said, "I contacted 3-4 people who were there and asked if I made any mistakes. They said, 'What are you talking about? You just left.'"
Later, Soyou ran into senior singer K.Will at an airport lounge. Soyou said, "He called me over and said, 'I heard something like this, you shouldn't do that.' I was really upset and told him, 'I never did that,' and cried."
Soyou eventually met the person involved in the rumor at a wedding. She said, "When I talked to them, they said, 'I said it as a joke. We were just talking and added some details, I didn't know you were so hurt. I'm sorry.'" She continued, "This incident is one of the main reasons I don't go out. I thought if I go to crowded places, rumors like this would spread. So, I avoid places with many people." She added, "People around them seem to know me like that."
