Mosu Seoul Apologizes for Wine Swap Controversy

Chef Ahn Sung-jae's fine dining restaurant 'Mosu Seoul' has admitted to and apologized for the 'wine swap' controversy.

On the 23rd, Mosu Seoul released an official statement on Instagram addressing the wine swap allegations.

Mosu Seoul stated, "We sincerely apologize for the issue that has come to light through an online community," and added, "We are truly sorry for the disappointment caused to our customers."

They continued, "We have personally apologized to the customer, who graciously accepted it, but we acknowledge that our response was insufficient compared to the expectations set for our restaurant." They also promised to review their services to prevent future occurrences and to rebuild trust with sincerity.

Mosu Seoul Apologizes for Wine Swap Controversy

On the 21st, an online community post claimed that "wine was swapped at Chef Ahn Sung-jae's restaurant." The author, identified as A, alleged that the wine served during the meal was different from what was supposed to be provided. They pointed out that the incorrectly served wine was approximately 100,000 KRW cheaper and criticized the sommelier's inadequate handling of the situation. In response, Mosu Seoul issued an official apology to address the matter.

Chef Ahn Sung-jae gained recognition through the 2024 Netflix show 'Black and White Chef' and operates the Michelin 2-star fine dining restaurant 'Mosu Seoul.'

Hello, this is Mosu Seoul.

We sincerely apologize for the issue that has come to light through an online community.

On April 18, 2026, during the wine pairing service, we failed to provide accurate guidance to our customer, causing confusion, and did not offer sufficient explanation during the follow-up, leading to great disappointment. We sincerely apologize for this.

After the incident, we personally apologized to the customer, who graciously accepted it, but we acknowledge that our response was insufficient compared to the expectations set for our restaurant.

Chef Ahn Sung-jae and the entire Mosu team take this matter very seriously. We promise to review our services thoroughly and prevent future occurrences. We will not stop at a superficial apology but will work sincerely to rebuild trust with our customers.
