Kang Mina Returns in Netflix's First Korean YA Horror 'GIRIGO'


Actress Kang Mina makes her return with Netflix's first Korean Young Adult (YA) horror series 'GIRIGO'.

Set to premiere on the 24th, Netflix's 'GIRIGO' will feature Kang Mina as 'Im Nari', a character who is young, rich, and pretty. Nari, raised in a wealthy environment and possessing idol-like looks, is a character who draws attention wherever she goes. She is skeptical of the mysterious app 'GIRIGO', which is said to grant wishes if you write down your name and wish. Throughout the series, she will portray the tumultuous emotions caused by 'GIRIGO' without restraint.

Kang Mina previously ventured into the horror genre with the 'Convenience Store' episode of the 2022 seezn original omnibus 'Midnight Horror: Six Nights'. Her performance, filled with fear and tension, captivated viewers with her expressive eyes and nuanced acting. In 'GIRIGO', she is expected to showcase her accumulated experience and deeper emotional range.

During the 'GIRIGO' highlight screening and press conference held on the 21st, Kang Mina described her character, saying, "Nari is someone with a strong desire to possess what she wants." She also mentioned, "I changed my hairstyle from a bob to long straight hair for an external transformation, and although I usually can't watch horror, I watched a lot during filming to build courage." Her dedication to preparing for the role has heightened anticipation for her new portrayal in 'GIRIGO'.

Meanwhile, 'GIRIGO', Netflix's first Korean YA horror series, revolves around high school students who receive sudden death warnings due to the curse of the wish-granting app 'GIRIGO'. They struggle to escape the curse, and the series will be available on Netflix starting the 24th.
